This has to be one of the best Studio Ghibli films on Netflix as it has something for everyone. Studio Ghibli is a Japanese animation studio, but their English dubs feature famous actors such as Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt. Howl’s Moving Castle is a wholesome tale about a young girl named Sophie who gets a spell put on her by an evil witch that turns her old. She sets off on an adventure to find Howl, a well-known powerful wizard in hopes of breaking her curse.
Along the way, she meets adorable characters that help her with her journey. The animation style is enticing and hard to take your eyes off. The storyline is complex but easy to follow if you concentrate – which isn’t hard to do. This one is great for kids and adults as it touches on important anti-war themes without being too violent. Shrek
Shrek is a great movie to watch when you’re entertaining young kids but don’t want to watch something immature. Although the target audience for this movie is definitely young, they throw in a few adult jokes for those watching. The movie is bizarre and hilarious and you’re sure to have a good time watching it no matter what your age. Alternatively, you know it’s 100% kid-friendly so you can play at Crypto Thrills Casino while your little ones watch.
Enola Holmes
Starring Millie Bobbie Brown, Enola Holmes is the perfect mixture between mature and light-hearted. The cast is impeccable, with Henry Cavil and Sam Clafin, alongside Helen Bonham Carter – the story is incredibly written yet easy to follow.
For those who know Sherlock Holmes, it is a more kid-friendly version with a younger main character. For those unfamiliar with the Sherlock Holmes stories, it’s still completely understandable. Millie Bobbie Brown is a teen actor on her way to legendary status thanks to her start in Stranger Things, but this movie is more appropriate for younger audiences.
Dolittle
The latest adaptation of the tales of Dolittle stars Robert Downey Jr. as the lead – which says enough about the fascinating story. Downey has always been the go-to actor for movies that are kid-friendly yet entertaining enough for adults. The story of Dolittle is famously entertaining and appropriate for everyone of all ages – who doesn’t love talking animals?
