Ohhh the feeling of love! Whether it be old or new, there is nothing quite like that warm fuzzy feeling when love takes over the heart!
If you are wanting to impress your new date or keep that fire glowing with your old flame and you just can’t seem to think past the usual dinner or movie out together, then read on my little love birds, because here are some “out of the box” date ideas to wow your love!
Whale watching
Being able to witness our earth’s gentle giants in their own natural habitat really is something truly magical! San Diego’s 70-mile coast line makes it one of the best places for whale watching. The city is known for its beaches, parks, warm climate, and year round whale watching san diego cruises. Venture on a boat trip and get to see different types of whales such as finback whales, humpback whales, giant blue whales, gray whales, and even killer whales if you get lucky.
Both sides of Australia’s coastline provide an abundance of locations to head out on the water and see these magnificence creatures at play. 30 different species of whales are found in Australian waters, and did you know that on the Great Southern Coast of Western Australia, in a little country town called Bremer Bay, you can even head out on a tour to spend the day Killer Whale watching in Australia! Star Gazing
Star light, star bright, let me wow my love tonight!
Grab a blanket, a good bottle of vino and jump in the car to head somewhere where the artificial lights of town are dim and the stars above shine bright! Search for a passing satellite, make a wish on a shooting star and discuss life on mars.
Head out on a hike
Chuck on your active wear, pop some snacks and a drink in a backpack and head out on the beaten track to explore your local area. You really can find some hidden gems exploring by foot, just be sure that one of you can read a map and knows how to navigate, we don’t want any lost souls out there!
Create a restaurant at home
They say the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach, at least, I think that’s how the saying goes? So why not become your own MasterChef and whip up some magic in the kitchen and serenade your love’s tastebuds! Light some candles, bring out the good crockery and create your own little restaurant in the comfort of your own home.
Best thing about a home restaurant is that you can wear (or not wear) anything you like too!
Walking Bar Tour
Most cities in Australia offer walking bar tours and it really is a great way to find some new and funky waterholes to wet the palate at! You may even find yourself learning something new from your tour guide as they show you around the city. Maybe just don’t expect the knowledge to stick as the night progresses!
Pottery Class
Now I’m sure most of you have seen that iconic scene in the movie Ghost, where Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore get up close and personal over some clay! And I bet a fair few of you have secretly wanted to be able to recreate that on screen sexiness (no?! ok maybe it’s just me then). Either way it’s fun to be able to create something with your hands and throw some clay (that is actually a pottery term, not meaning to literally throw at each other.. although that could also create some fun!) At the end of your class, you will also have hopefully created the perfect little keepsake to remember this date for all the years to come.
Sunset drinks at the beach
There is something about a sunset over the ocean that just screams romance!
Pack a little nibbles board, pop in some glasses and a bottle of bubbles and head down to your local beach for a romantic evening together. Let the conversation flow and the sand go between the toes (hey that sand might just end up in a few other places too!).
Fishing charter
Show your love you can be the ultimate hunter gatherer and take them out for a day on the water to catch your dinner.
You really don’t even have to know what you’re doing (although you could pretend) as the fishing charter crew will drop you over that hot spot and provide you with all the gear to haul in that big catch! You might end the day smelling like a prawn that has been left in the hot sun, but at least the lungs will be full of salty fresh air and you will hopefully have a good feed to show for your stinky efforts!
Surf lesson
Get some salt and sun on the skin and head down to learn how to ride the rolling waves.
Be sure to chuck on some classic surf tunes on the way down to really get yourselves amped for a day I’m sure you will both froth over! By the end of the day, you may even be showing your love how to hang 10 or at the very least how to kook it and wipe out!
Cocktail making masterclass
With cocktail names like “Sex on the Beach” and “Harvey Wallbanger” why wouldn’t you want to show your love how to shake that cocktail maker and get those creative juices flowing! Many bars or distilleries offer cocktail making masterclasses, but you could even grab a few different ingredients and create your own cocktail magic at home. Choose ingredients that remind you of your love and mix them together and see what happens.. could end up being a party in your mouth or some sweet poison (Let’s just hope it’s the first of the two!).
Whichever date you choose; from spending the day whale watching in Augusta to just chilling by the beach, be sure to get creative and not take yourselves too seriously. Then let laughter fill the air, the sweetest memories be made and let love show you the way!
