Hong Kong is one of the largest cities in the world, and it is known for its extremely dense standard of living and for its impressive economy that developed independently from the rest of China for the most part. Hong Kong is considered to be a special administrative region of China, and therefore enjoys a level of autonomy that other cities in China do not have.
Due to this, Hong Kong has developed into a vibrant and lively city that offers features of the free capitalist society we are familiar with, and the more restrictive economy of China. There are so many firms in South East Asia who have chosen to base their headquarters in Hong Kong, such as this company.
More than the economy, Hong Kong is also one of the most stunning cities when it comes to the skyline. With the relatively little flat ground to build on, it is considered to be one of the densest cities in the world. There are so many hidden gems and interesting things to find in Hong Kong, and this article will cover just that.
If you are planning a trip to Hong Kong, whether it be for business or leisure, then keep reading as we go over everything you need to know before visiting the city of Hong Kong.
The Best Times To Go
If you don’t have a set date already for when to go to Hong Kong, you may want to consider visiting the city in the fall months to avoid the hot and humid summers. Walking around a crowded city in a humid climate that can reach 90 degrees fahrenheit in the summer is definitely not the way to go.
We recommend visiting Hong Kong from October to December as the weather will be much more temperate, and there will also probably be fewer tourists if you time it right.
If you can’t visit during the fall months, spring and winter are also good times to visit. For the spring months (March to May), then we recommend bringing an umbrella and raincoat as you may experience some rainfall during your visit. If you visit during the winter, you will be visiting Hong Kong during the most popular and busiest time of year, as it is around Lunar New Year. Many hotels will charge higher prices during the winter months, and it can be very difficult to travel around the city with so many people there.
Getting Around The City
Even if you choose to go during the most unpopular time of the year, the summer, it will still be crowded and busy. Fortunately, there are many good travel methods that will allow you to beat the crowd and not get stuck in long traffic lines without having to spend a ton of money on ubers.
For example, if you want to do some sightseeing around the city, there are tour buses that stop at all the most popular and famous attractions in Hong Kong. The Big Bus tour company operates in Hong Kong, and we highly recommend using them in place of Ubering all over the city.
Where To Stay
There are a lot of incredibly accommodative and welcoming resorts and hotels in Hong Kong for you to stay during your visit. Some of these hotels are very cheap while maintaining a high level of luxury amenities.
If you’re looking for the best deal, our recommendation would be to book your stay at the Nina Hotel Tsuen Wan West. For as low as $119 a night, you can cut down on travel expenses while enjoying all the features found in high end hotels and resorts.
If you’re visiting Hong Kong with your family, you may want to consider staying at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. Starting at $420 a night, you are going to be paying quite the premium – but for good reason. The beach resort resembles that of a Victorian palace, with ocean views and extremely spacious rooms. Of course, you will also be staying right next to Hong Kong’s Disneyland, which will be extra convenient if you want to visit the park.
Enjoy your trip!
