It’s the weekend, you don’t have to go to work and the kids won’t need to go to school. Rather than having a boring weekend, trying something that the whole family will enjoy will make your kids look forward to weekends. You are here because you have made up your mind to try something fun with your whole family this weekend and you already have your head filled with work-related stuff so you can’t think of anything you can try. Then you are in luck because, in today’s article, I’ll be telling you about some fun activities you can try out with your family this weekend.
Host a picnic
Hosting a picnic with your family is a great way to spice up your weekend. You can take the family out and have a picnic at the park. If you don’t want to go out, you can also have a picnic in your backy
ard. Prepare a few sandwiches, a drink (a lemonade is great), and some fruits. Load them into a basket and depending on your location, you can lay them on a table or blanket.
Plan a four-square tournament
If you are looking for a family activity that’ll keep everyone moving then, playing the four square tournament with your family is what you should do. To play the game, you’ll need four players and a big rubber ball. Next, you’ll have to draw a 12″ x 12″ square and divide the square into four squares – A, B, C, and D. Place one member of your family (player) in each square. To start the game, the player in the A square bounces the ball in his square before hitting it with open hands into another square and the player in that square does the same, hitting it another square. When a player misses the ball (fails to hit the ball) or hits it out of bounds, he/she will move to the D square and the players behind him will forward before starting the game again.
Plan a scavenger hunt
Kids love adventure, planning a treasure hunt for them, will seem like a dream come true because, for some, they get to feel like their favourite character in movies while they try to find the treasures. You don’t have to go far for this game, you can hide pieces of jewellery (treasures) in the garden and then draw up a map that’ll guide them to those treasures. Rather than handing over the map to them, you can hide the map and give them clues that’ll lead them to the location of the map.
Cooking
Unfortunately, you can’t try any of the above-listed options because it’s been raining all week and the weather forecast says it’s going to rain this weekend. What do you do? There are a lot of fun activities to do with your family indoors and one of them is cooking with your family. This is also a great opportunity for you to teach your kids how to prepare their favourite dishes.
