The Whiplash is a speedy vehicle that will get you to the safe zone.
Since Epic added automated vehicles to Fortnite, people have been crazy about them for a good reason. You can easily avoid The Storm and head to the safe zone in seconds. Compared to just walking, vehicles offer a much swifter way of getting to your destination of choice. The recently added Whiplash is one of the many different cars in Fortnite. What’s unique about this car is that besides being available for all Fortnite account owners when playing a match, you can use Whiplash Spawner devices with the Race Checkpoint Device to design a racing game. Remember when Epic allowed players to race in tracks using golf carts? They’re using the same schtick again, but with souped-up cars like the Whiplash instead.
If you want to find a Whiplash for yourself or know how you can mod to be a beast of a machine, you’ve come to the right place.
What Are the Stats of The Whiplash?
Every Whiplash has Boost by default, unlike other cars, which is a big plus. It has a high default top speed as if that wasn’t enough. However, don’t think of the Whiplash as an overpowered piece of metal just yet – in exchange for this speed, it has lower durability and lighter mass. Since it has a fragile frame and can only plow through structures like cacti and small trees, the Whiplash is a risk-versus-reward vehicle – perfect for daredevils. Here are the stats:
Durability | Speed | Weight |
800 | 80 MPH (90 with Boost) | Light |
Most Fortnite account owners will find the Whiplash hunky-dory in terms of its overall stats, but one caveat that can make it a dealbreaker for some players: it’s a two-seater. If you’re always playing in Squads, you might not find the Whiplash a viable choice. Still, it’s a better choice than the Wolves, Bears, or even the Ballers at Rave Cave, which are all single-riders.
Where to Find the Whiplash
You can’t always find cars in the same spot when playing Fortnite. Cars of all types have a chance to spawn near small towns, parking spaces, and gas stations. Of course, the Whiplash is included in the list. That said, the Whiplash is also one of the only examples in the game where you can find it in one specific spot: Chonker’s Speedway. You can find Chonker’s Speedway in the desert-filled south end part of the map.
If you want the absolute best Whiplash you can get on the map; you need to head over to Chonker’s Speedway because they already come pre-equipped with offroad tires. It doesn’t exactly turn it into an All-Terrain Kart, but it’s pretty close. Moreover, you can find the NPC called “Stash’d” in the Garage area, where you can get yourself a Cow Catcher. With how bad the XP is for this season, the Whiplash makes for an excellent grinding vehicle to accomplish any “drive through destructible terrain” MIlestones or Daily Quests. But remember, outside this zone, the Whiplash turns into any other car.
Modding the Whiplash
The Whiplash’s speed is one of its good points, but with its fragility, you must drive real carefully to avoid getting beat up. Well, you no longer need to drive safely in-game because you can turn it into a car of destruction by modding the Whiplash.
As part of the first week of weekly quests in Fortnite, you might’ve seen a task where you have to mod a Whiplash with Off-Road Tires and a Cow Catcher. Then, you’ll use that modded Whiplash to destroy 50 structures, ranging from small items on the ground to walls.
The Cow Catcher and Off-Road Tires are part of the ground loot, so you will likely find them while exploring. The perfect spot to complete this quest is in a gas station northwest of Condo Canyon. You’ll be able to find two Whiplash cars parked next to the garage – perfect for Squads. We’re not entirely sure whether or not you’re going to find the exact amount of Whiplashes every time you go to that spot since the spawn is randomized each time, but since it’s a gas station, the chances are high.
You can get Off-Road Tires by opening chests or searching different locations, but gas stations and parking lots are the go-tos. If you have trouble finding these tires, you can take a detour to Chonker’s Speedway, where you can find a Whiplash that already has the tires installed.
As for the Cow Catcher, you have two ways to get it. The first option is to go to Stash’d, an NPC that can be found in Chonker’s Speedway. You can get a Cow Catcher for a fee by interacting with him. But if you prefer getting the stuff for free, an excellent place to look for them is the cases you can find in garages that act as small chests.
Is Modding the Whiplash Worth It?
If you want to complete the first-week quests and get rewards in the Fortnite Item Shop, modding the Whiplash is necessary. But if you’re thinking of doing it to make the driving experience a tad better, then you should drive the Whiplash as is. The point of a vehicle is for you to get from Point A to Point B; in the end, going through all the trouble of getting the parts for it just isn’t worth the time.
